15 Bible periods appear obvious as one opens, reads, and studies the Bible. I do not know who first came up with this categorization. However, I know that it has been a GREAT help to me in my own personal Bible study to use the 15 periods of Bible history.
I was first exposed to these 15 Bible periods when I entered preaching school at Brown Trail in 1980. As we studied the course, “Old Testament Survey,” we were required to memorize these periods. We also were to place the 66 Bible books into the appropriate period.
Others have divided Bible history into more or less than 15 periods. This is the arrangement that makes the most sense to me. During ALL of these periods God was dealing with mankind. He has given to us an amazing record to study. There are many lessons for our consideration. Through this study, we can derive tremendous benefits.
It really does help a LOT to know HOW these Bible events hook into the recorded history of the world through God’s written revelation! I am confident that the study and then memorization of these 15 Bible periods will enhance your Bible study efforts.
Importance of baptism and ministering to the young and the mature are two topics I received instruction concerning in the school of the walk.
I have spent many years in an organized school environment (actually 12.5 years past high school). I continue to be in school in many ways. One of the ways is that I attend the School of the Walk. I listen to podcasts and other mp3 files as I walk for exercise. Today I had a couple of good classes. One was a class I have enjoyed quite often on Thursdays, for about five years from the podcast: PREACHERS IN TRAINING, by Robert Hatfield. The subject matter was: “Ministering to the Young and the Mature,” with Jacob Rutledge. This podcast is excellent and always helpful to those who carry on the work of a preacher and others whose interests include understanding preaching.
For my second class, I listened to another podcast. This was the regular recording of sermons provided by the West Huntsville church of Christ. The message I heard on “Importance of Baptism,” preached by Dave Miller impressed me. I could use many adjectives to describe how wonderful the message was. It was certainly one of the greatest messages on baptism I have ever heard. It was so well developed; easily understood; powerfully potent with truth; impossible to refute; and, I recommend that you pause what you are doing right now and take a listen: by clicking H-E-R-E.
Please check our SALVATION page on this site. The page contains audio, video and written material which is supportive of this theme of the importance of baptism.
I hope this site will be one that proves to be helpful to you and one you will want to visit regularly. I’m David Lemmons, and I preach for the Maple Hill Church of Christ in Benton, KY. We will seek to post items in the category of Bible study and activities of the church. We welcome you here and hope you will tell others where they can find us. We have many files we want to present here, but we ask for your patience as we begin the process of starting a site. It will be our desire to encourage you to go back to the Bible for answers to questions and problems you confront day by day.
